Le Pinson, a slim champagne titanium cuff with a domed black sapphire oval in a gold bezel, standing on a blush velvet plinth in a walnut marquetry window of paper peonies and chrysanthemums

Van Roye · Genève

A jewel that knows your song.

Le Pinson: a titanium cuff with a voice hidden inside, that learns your song.

Follow the finch

The tale of Van Roye

Il était une fois une clairière.

In an old Flemish wood, the tale goes, there was a clearing where the finches gathered. One young finch learned the song of a girl who stopped each morning to listen, and sang it back to her wherever she went.

Van Roye makes jewels that do the same. They listen, they remember, and their voice stays hidden inside the piece.

Chapitre I · The Clearing

Where the light reaches the moss.

Our name comes from a place. Vinkenroye: vink, the finch; roye, the clearing. It was a Flemish family name before it was a maison, carried one day to Geneva, where the lake listens as well as any wood.

Chapitre II · The Finch

A great memory in a very small bird.

The chaffinch learns its song phrase by phrase, and no two sing quite alike. We made it our emblem: one shape, two wing bars and a beak just parting, the moment before the song. We call it le pinson, and our first cuff carries its name.

Five gold wire staves sweeping across saffron paper, strung with enamel berries and paper leaves like notes, towards a cluster of coral paper peonies

Chapitre III · The Song

Everyone has a song.

It is in the way you speak, the things you return to, the small rituals of your day. A Van Roye jewel learns yours the way the finch learned the girl's, gently, in its own time.

Chapitre IV · Le Pinson

Le Pinson.

An open curve of titanium, shaped to one wrist. A single oval of black sapphire. Inside it, one hairline of warm gold light: le fil d'or, the only sign that the jewel is listening.

Chapitre V · The Voice

La Voix Cachée.

Touch the stone and speak. The voice keeps what you tell it: a name, a word, the song you hummed last spring. When it has something for you, a hairline of gold wakes beneath the sapphire and the jewel stirs, once, against your wrist. No button, no seam, nothing to see but the jewel.

Only you will know it is there.

Press and hold the stone

How it keeps your song

Le Pinson learns slowly, the way a finch learns a song.

It listens, only to you. It remembers, only what you keep. It sings, softly, at the right moment.

Chapitre VI · The Craft

Made by hand, then sealed like a secret.

Each cuff is shaped from titanium, its black sapphire set into the oval by hand, its edges polished until they hold the light like water. Then the voice is set inside, the way a stone is set, and the chamber is sealed.

  1. iTitanium, shaped by hand.
  2. iiSapphire, set into the oval.
  3. iiiThe chamber, sealed.

Each evening it rests in its walnut case, and wakes full of song.

Ce qui est précieux se cache.

What is precious keeps itself hidden.
